Every now and then a magazine comes along with quilts both old and familiar and old with a twist. This is the latest issue from American Patchwork and Quilting and is filled with lovely quilts, naturally, and what grabbed my attention was the variety of quilting designs .
As a free-motion (modified) longarm enthusiast, I am always on the look-out for creative motifs and I must say, this collection is positively riddled with them.

This book is truly a keeper (or one heck of a gift for that quilter in your life!) "The Quilt" A History and Celebration of an American Art Form by Elise Schebler Roberts. There is a forword by that wonderful writer of the Elm Creek Quilters series, Jennifer Chiaverini and is a wealth of information for anyone who appreciates the beauty, history, functionality and, dare I say it, longevity of quiltmaking. This is much more than a coffee-table decoration. You'll be glued to the pages and spell-bound by both the imagery and text. (It's only (!) $24.99)
