Sept. & Oct. 2015 Class Schedule

Hello! It's almost fall again and we have our roster of classes up for your inspection.

Check it out and sign up early to ensure you get a seat.  There is plenty of time between now and Christmas to get some handmade gifts all wrapped up and ready to place under the tree.

Remember, we have the "Best Deal In Town"; a coupon for 6 consecutive months of unlimited classes for only $60.00. Just sign up and show up to 2 or three classes in the first month and you've already saved! Now you have 5 months more to sign up and enjoy learning new techniques, make projects you might have wanted to make for years and met new friends.

We also have unstructured "sit n sew" sessions..... Sit 'n Sew Friday, the Mini's, Farm Girl Vintage, Dear Jane, Applique Group...... these are ALL open to everyone who wants to share in the camaraderie of quilters as we stitch the quilts.

If you have any questions, give us a call at 985-845-9554.

Row By Row Experience

By now, you surely have heard about the Row By Row Experience but you may still have a few questions left unanswered.

What is this?

Row By Row is a different kind of "hop" where you go to shops across the United States and Canada and pick up a free pattern to create a quilt row, 9.5" x 36.5". You can pick up as many or as few as you like. The shops also have kits for sale to make their specific row for a nominal fee.

Free?

Yep, it's free for the asking.

Why?

To give you an added incentive to visit a shop you may otherwise not. It takes place only during the summer months because most people take vacations at this time. The dates are June 22-Sept. 8. After that, it shuts down until Oct. 31.

What am I supposed to do this this (these) row(s)?

Anything you like! You can make just one and hang it in a small space or sash a few of them and make a bed runner. You can go crazy and make a king-size quilt!

What's with the license plates?

Ah!!!! Remember those steamer trunks with the stickers from places it's been? Think of the license plates as a reminder of the shops you've been and collected the rows. Each one has a unique 'vanity' statement and each state is unique to the other, just like car plates. Here is ours.... naturally with a french twist! $5.99

Ok, but what do I do with them?

You can add them to the final design of your quilt or use them in other projects. We have patterns at the shop to give you more ideas.

Here is a link to the Louisiana Row By Row Experience Facebook page to give you an idea of what others have been doing.

So, what do I do with a quilt when I finish?

If you have made a quilt with a least 8 rows, be the FIRST to bring it in, quilted, bound & with a label on the back and you will win a fat quarter bundle at any participating shop. Our bundle is still waiting for a winner and this is true for many shops here in this area.

Cool! Hey, wait... how much longer do I have?

We stop giving out or selling kits on Sept 8 and you have until Oct.31 to finish your quilt if you are wanting to win a prize.

But I live in Michigan! I can't get to Bright Hopes! Will you mail me a kit?

Sadly, not until AFTER Oct. 31. We can sell and mail the plates but not the pattern or kits. These are the rules set by the organizers.
But if you would like us to put you on our 'waiting list', give us a call at

August Heat - Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler

We are approaching the second weekend of the South Louisiana Shop Hop and were blown away with the number of Hoppers last Friday and Saturday. It has to set a record!

This year has 12 shops participating, with 2 new shops in the Lafayette area.

You can see the location of each shop on the map above and the list of great Prizes for Hoppers who fill up the entire passport with stamps.

Below is the $250 Prize Basket you can win at Bright Hopes Quilting..... it's packed with great products and patterns.

Now, in years past, each shop would hand out a different pattern and create individual quilt kits for sale to complete a 'sampler' style quilt.

This year, each shop created a unique quilt based around 12 colors in 4 hues, Light, Med, Med-Dark and Dark.  Each shop is selling a pack of four strips in one color; our's is Teal.    Below, you can see the Bright Hopes Quilt.

We have finishing kits to make this big bright quilt, measuring 68" x 85", $54.99

If you'd like to make it larger, we have a finishing kit to add 12 more inches around the outer edge, $14.99. It will then measure 80" x 97".

The new class roster is firming up and I'll be posting it next week......  and if you are still picking up Row By Row patterns, don't forget to check ours out hanging behind the register. We have kits to make it easy and license plates as well. (While supplies last)
