Just Zip It!

Jayne Harrell held her Zip It Class last Thursday and here is a photo of the finished projects:

Very nice and what great gifts they would make, say at.....oh .... Christmas? Yikes! It's almost August...Time to start thinking about the holidays, y'all.

We have three lovely lines of Christmas fabrics and a new tree skirt pattern with a sample coming soon. Check back! But in the meantime, Linda Kay has knocked out this terrific quilt using a pattern from the book Fat Quarter Cut-Ups, and Nancy Halverson Tidings fabric line.

Whirling Dervish

We'll have kits cut to make your stashing easy.

Keep in mind that Shop Hop is only a few weeks away. The passports are being sold at all participating stores and include $5.00 coupons for each store.

Lollipops A-Poppin!

I wanted to post, for your viewing pleasure, a few shots of the "lollipop challenge" projects..... Pearl drew the entry winner (drum roll, please, maestro!)

Karlyn Ball is the winner and here is her design. how great!

This is a shot of the group of entries....

And this is a clock!
Thank you all, once again, for sharing your creativity with the rest of us. We had a blast watching everyone come in with such enthusiasm.

Isn't it fun to just shake off expectations and "go with it"? You never know where it's going to take you.

Tote Club Class

Linda Kay has one spot left for her class next Tuesday in her on-going Tote Club. This month is the Tahoe Tote, a nice roomy carry-all.

So next Tuesday, 10 - 2pm, give us a call to check availability.

Whoo-hoo Pam!!!

Take a look at this BEAUTIFUL table runner Pam Saltich whipped together. She took a class with Linda Kay a little while back and put her own twist to THIS New Orleans-inspired runner. The pattern is the Eclipse Table Runner.

Very nicely done, Pam!

Shop Hop 2010

Well, this is a head's up for all you "local" quilters. (local is relative, right?)

If you don't know by now, our Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler Shop Hop (is this number 4?) is scheduled for August 12, 13 and 14.

If you have never had the opportunity to "do" a Shop Hop, let me give you the run-down.

You buy a "passport" at any participating quilt shop for $5.00. At each shop, you get your passport stamped and fill out a chance for the In-Store raffle. These baskets are generous prizes and well-worth the chance. (Hint- you know all those self-adhesive address stickers you have floating around? Bring them. Saves time better spent looking around the store)

Each store will have a quilt made specially to "showcase" a current line of fabric and some shops have demos of products going on. This is a GREAT way to have some fun, break out of your comfort zone and see what the "other" shops have in stock.

Each passport also has included a $5.00 coupon to use with regular-priced items totaling $20.00+ so if you make a purchase, you're already ahead!

Now, after you hit ALL SIX PARTICIPATING STORES and get the stamps at each one, you place your passport in a container at the last one and THAT enters you for the Grand Prize Drawings. The shops all come together with the passports and pull the winners.

This year's Grand Prize is this nifty Perfect Caddy from Hinterberg Designs.

So here's your reminder... check around with your sewing friends and make a "road trip!" out of it. That is TOO much fun! Hire a bus and bring the whole guild!

The participating shops are:

The Bourne Quilter in Lafayette
Fabric Krazy in Baton Rouge
Amelia's Quilt Shop in Baton Rouge
The Quilting Niche in Houma
Mama's Quilt Shop in Independence
and
Bright Hopes Quilting in Mandeville

Okay, ya'll! Let's get Hopping and we'll see you there.

Congratulations!!! to Laura!

We have a newest little quilter at Bright Hopes! Her name is Madison and she was born last week.

She came in weighing 8lbs 110 oz and both mother and child are doing well.

I'll post a photo when we get one.

Welcome to our World, Madison.

Thursday Updates

We have the Kids Quilt Camp going on this week and here are two of our newest young quilters at work on their "Take 5"s.

I have the pleasure of showing the latest in the Free Spirit "Art of Possibilities" line. These imaginative prints are designed by visually impaired artists. The colors and shapes are as bold as you see below but you really should just come in and check them out. Love the one that looks like sunflowers!

And from Michael Miller, we got in the"Whimsy" fabric line. Can't go wrong with blue and yellow...
